Galileo completes Worldspan deal

Galileo owner Travelport has completed its $1.4 billion acquisition of rival global distribution system supplier Worldspan. The deal makes Travelport one of the world's leading travel brands. Travelport GDS division president and CEO Gordon Wilson said: "Galileo will be enhanced by Worldspan's online distribution technology platform, while Worldspan will benefit from Galileo's expanded supplier base and expansive content."

Travel and Tourism Growth In India

MoT sanctions 27 projects worth Rs 70 cr. in statesMinistry of tourism has sanctioned central financial assistance worth Rs 70 crores for 27 projects spread over different Indian states in the first four months of the current financial year. While some of these projects are related with conservation and promotion of heritage destinations at places like Sanchi, Chettinad and Srirangam, some others are projects connected with development of eco-tourism. These projects include Dongargarh and Kodar (Chattisgarh), Pathiramanal (Kerala), and Bungus Valley (J&K). Under the rural tourism segment, financial assistance have been sanctioned for rural tourism projects in states like Nagaland, Orissa, UP, West Bengal, Gujarat, J&K and Jharkhand.
